School Readiness Program
Catholic Charities of Dallas has been providing help and changing lives for 124 years. Core programming includes refugee services, immigration and legal services, family empowerment services and regional centers with specialized services needed by a particular community or group of people.
The Crystal Charity Ball funds will be used over two years to provide a dual generation early childhood program and an after-school program at the Santa Clara Regional Community Center in West Oak Cliff. The Center offers the only comprehensive children’s program in this resource-poor neighborhood of predominately low-income, limited English Hispanic families. In the Together We Learn program, children participate in English-focused early education classes while parents receive classes in child development, ESL and job readiness. The program uses a family-centered approach to prepare children for school success and to empower parents. The after-school program at Santa Clara offers STEM-based curriculum, tutoring and recreational activities. Funds will be used for additional teachers and program salaries to operate the school readiness program at full capacity. Approximately 275 children from birth through 8th grade will be served over the two years.
