Vision for Children

Experiencing the World through better vision.

The mission of Dallas Services is to enable all individuals, especially those with disabilities and other  needs, to achieve their potential by fostering community inclusiveness and independence. The agency is committed to providing affordable, inclusive and unique pre-school learning opportunities and low vision services to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Crystal Charity Ball funds will be used over three years to provide vision services to children from low-income families. Approximately 47,504 children living in poverty in Dallas County need but do not have access to glasses.  Dallas Services partners with area schools to identify these children with untreated vision problems. Children who need but cannot afford glasses are at an academic and social disadvantage. Through the Low Vision Clinic, one of the agency’s four programs, glasses are provided to children so that school and life success are within their reach. Funds will be used to replace outdated optometry equipment and to provide comprehensive eye exams and glasses. Approximately 4,500 children ages five to seventeen will be served over the three years.
